I hold a PhD degree in economics from SOAS, University of London. I have worked as economic consultant in international organisations and ministries around the world. In 2008 I joined the ODI fellowship scheme and was posted in the National Treasury in Pretoria for two years. I continued working for Treasury until August 2011 when I returned to start a PhD degree at SOAS. Between 2014-2017, I was lecturer in economics at Kingston University, London. I then joined Hertfordshire Business School as senior lecturer in economics for 2017-2021. Currently, I am a lecturer in development economics at King's College London. I am also a senior research associate at University of Johannesburg. My research focuses on finance, financialisation and development.
